About Steph

Thank you for clicking through my site and for visiting this page. I would like to use this page to share with you why I am so dedicated to food and health and what I have gone through to get here.

It is true that now I AM healthy and my body is working the way I would like it to, I am happy, I live in a healthy home with a totally set-up live foods kitchen and I have the energy to take care of my son and still pursue hobbies like music, yoga, hiking and foraging on top of working with fabulous clients and fun programs. The truth is just a short time ago this was totally completely not my life.

After my son was born about six years ago my health started to decline. Being alone with him without maternity leave or support the responsibility was mine to work, take care of him, clean the house you know the drill! My energy started to rapidly decline and I started to have some pretty extreme body pain which I didn’t mention to my family or friends. I DID start visiting the doctor trying to find some answers. My joint pain got to the point where it was debilitating and sometimes I couldn’t teach guitar (my source of income) and often I was too sore to pick up vegetables and run them through my juicer. The truth was I was so exhausted and in so much pain that I could barely make it through the day and often didn’t and if I did survive the day I was pretty much collapsed on the couch unable to take care of anyone let alone a high maintenance two-year-old.

I finally started getting referred to specialists. I saw a gastroenterologist for a while and a rheumatologist and an allergist. Having been on a gluten and dairy free diet for years I had to dig deep and keep digging and keep hoping that SOMEbody would figure out what was going on with me. At one visit to the allergist (you know the one who pokes you and measures the reaction?) I looked up and saw this phrase written boldly on a crooked black-and-white poster on the wall. “Medicine is the art of best guess and the practice of trial and error”. Needless to say this poster did not fill me with confidence. He then proceeded to tell me that I was being far too optimistic to believe that my food could have anything to do with my symptoms and that he “sees it all the time” and he “can’t help those people”. He told me to go home and take an aspirin. I decided it would be unwise to physically attack a man holding 15 tiny needles but I was pretty annoyed.

Meanwhile I was in serious pain and didn’t want to hug my son in case he stepped on my toe or squeezed too tight.

Fatefully two days later I was at the rheumatologist’s office for my monthly check-up and we were discussing some possibilities for my diagnosis. She had the reputation of being the best in her field in my local area and she really was good. It became clear that she wasn’t sure where to proceed from that point. I told her I wanted to work on my inflammation and maybe come back in a few months. She told me she was probably going to retire. She said “you know Steph, if you’re doing something more than four hours per day that you really don’t like you’re going to be sick. There’s nothing we can do about it.”

This was not really the help that I wanted.

But hearing her say this made me think… if she is going to quit her job and work on changing her life for the sake of her health… why not me?

It was at this moment when I realized that nobody was going to find a way to fix me. I had to do it myself.

Having already studied vegan, allergy-free, spiritual, raw, gluten free you-name-it nutrition for years I began to look deeper. I began to study bacteria, the chemistry of inflammation, hidden sources of toxins, herbal medicine and the endocrine system. I followed a systematic approach and learned things about my body that NOBODY ever would have found. I got to the root of my pain and fixed it.

I fixed it!!!

Now I feel good, I have the energy for my work and my relationships, I enjoy my life and I feel good about the way I look and feel.

Just a few years ago I would not have believed this would be my life.

Through these years I have gathered some powerful information and I am so glad to have the opportunity to share it with you here and in my programs.
