I really enjoyed this interview, it was hard to keep it under an hour but we managed! If you have any further questions for Phyllis please comment below and we can save up for a follow-up interview. • Hi Steph,
    Good interview!
Just thought I would let you know this little fact I learn in my Microbiology degree back in the late 70’s (it hasn’t changed)
There are many species of bacteria and other microorganisms that live on or inside the healthy human body. In fact, 90% of the cells in (or on) a human body are microbes, by number. cited from: Wenner, Melinda. “Humans Carry More Bacterial Cells than Human Ones”. Retrieved 2010-10-09.

    • so very right Mary, funny that the rest of the world is just catching on now, LOL! You knew all along 🙂 I think it takes a while to trickle down to the mainstream 🙂

These are just a few. They started doing EEG with feedback in at least 1985 (at least that is when they actually began publishing it). When getting my master’s my research was on EEG use.

  • I agree that Neurofeedback is not new; it was considered “experimental” and took many more sessions with less effectiveness even in the 90’s when I was employed at a Mental Health facility inOennsylvania, where they were trying to use it to treat ADHD. It is getting to be more widely accepted in the past several years, with the early work paving the way and giving the scientific authority to the much more sophisticated machines and software now available. My mentor, Hoel Lubar, PhD was in fact one of those early pioneers. The potential benefits are just so exciting and amazing, and we still have a long way to go in getting it accepted by conventional medicine. They are working on getting a COT code for the procedure , which is needed for insurance in the US to pay for it. It often takes 25-50 years between the time a new treatment or understanding is put into common use in medicine.

    • Good point Phyllis! Things do take a long time to become accepted even with a long history of use. Mary feel free to let us know more about your experience with this as well.
